Aldo Vazquez: A Passion for Tower Cranes Inspired by His Father

Aldo Vazquez’s story has been closely linked to tower cranes from a very young age. At just 13 years old, he began accompanying his father, Leonardo Vazquez, known in Mexico as “Alma Negra” (“Black Soul”), and it was alongside him that he discovered a world that would eventually become his profession.
His first encounter with a JASO crane was 10 years ago, with a J46NS model, on a project where his father was responsible for operating, erecting, dismantling and maintaining the crane. “I fell in love with their design, power, aesthetics and quality.” That experience marked the beginning of a journey of learning that has become the foundation of his professional career.
While studying, Aldo combined his education with on-site work, alternating between roles as a crane operator and rigger, gaining a comprehensive understanding of tower crane operations.
Today, he is part of ESPAMEX as a tower crane operator and rigger, taking part in the complete installation of tower cranes: mast section assembly, electrical installation, calibration, commissioning and load testing. He also carries out specialised work such as climbing operations, crane raising, dismantling and rope replacement.
Despite his young age, Aldo has already worked on some of Mexico’s most important construction projects. Among them is Rise Tower, the tallest tower in Latin America, where he is currently working with two J180PA luffing cranes. He has also participated in projects such as Torre de Seguridad Fuerza Civil, Distrito Karena and Novus Fundidora.
In Aldo’s words, JASO is a global benchmark capable of providing the right solution for every challenge.
For him, this profession represents dedication, discipline and continuous self-improvement. These are values he also applies outside the construction site through sport and physical training, both essential for meeting the demands of such a challenging profession.
