JASO’s J560 Tower Crane Supports Major Expansion at University of Rochester Medical Center

13 / 11 / 2024

This Low Top J560 enables efficient, high-rise construction in a dense urban setting.

In the heart of Rochester, New York, a major development is underway at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), where the expansion of this vital healthcare facility is progressing with the help of JASO Tower Cranes North America. Able Rigging Contractors and Crane Tech Solutions LLC recently erected a J560, representing a critical step forward in the construction of the new Emergency Department and Patient Bed Tower. This project is spearheaded in partnership with the Turner-Pike Joint Venture as part of an overarching effort to expand healthcare capacity for the region’s growing needs.

Given the size and complexity of this expansion, efficient vertical construction solutions were essential to manage the height and reach requirements, as well as to handle the heavy structural components involved. URMC required a robust and adaptable crane capable of precise handling in a dense urban environment.

JASO J560: Precision, Power, and Versatility

To meet the unique demands of this expansion, JASO provided the J560, a high-performance Low Top tower crane ideally suited for large urban construction projects.

With a reach of 85 meters and a maximum load capacity of 24 tons, the J560 is engineered to manage the heavy steel and concrete loads required for the construction of URMC’s new 9-story bed tower and the extensive emergency department.

The crane’s 2.5-ton tip load at maximum reach enables efficient, precise placement of materials across the entire footprint of the construction site, while its compact, short cathead design minimizes space requirements at height, making it ideal for dense urban sites like URMC. This compact configuration allows multiple cranes to operate simultaneously without interference, increasing the site’s operational efficiency and reducing the risk of project delays.

Additionally, the J560 features advanced safety and stability systems, ensuring it performs optimally even under challenging weather conditions.

As the Turner-Pike Joint Venture Team leads the way in managing every phase of this extensive project—from demolition and excavation to utility setup and final construction—the J560 plays an essential role in achieving project milestones efficiently and safely.

JASO Tower Cranes is honored to contribute to this vital healthcare expansion, reinforcing our commitment to supporting North America’s evolving infrastructure needs with state-of-the-art cranes, crafted to tackle any project challenge.
