Efficiency and Savings: Innovative Climbing Solutions in Tower Cranes to Optimize CAPEX and OPEX in Large Projects

24 / 07 / 2024

We attended Tower Cranes North America 2024, where Pedro Alonso Vázquez, CEO of ESPAMEX, analyzed cost reductions in the construction of the Rise Tower in Mexico.

The expansion of JASO Tower Cranes throughout North America is evident not only in projects like the collaboration with the United States Coast Guard in Baltimore and the construction of two towers at 1120 John Street in Seattle but also in our active participation in key industry events. Recently, we attended KHL Group’s Tower Cranes North America (TCNA) event in Nashville, where we were also sponsors.

Pedro Alonso Vázquez, Vice President and CEO of ESPAMEX, spoke at this event about how to optimize CAPEX and OPEX in a major project. Pedro Alonso, an industrial engineer with 35 years of experience in the sector and 10 years as CEO of ESPAMEX, shared insights on capital and operational optimization through innovative climbing solutions, both internal and external, for the Rise Tower in Mexico. The optimization of the climbing frame dimensions and the specialized knowledge of his team resulted in a significant competitive advantage in the project’s operational costs. He also explained the key steps in the process by which his expert team of installers set up these systems at various stages, emphasizing their accumulated knowledge and dedication over decades at ESPAMEX.

ESPAMEX is the leading distributor of tower cranes in Mexico, with a portfolio of 10,000 projects over 45 years. With 500 JASO tower cranes in its fleet, ESPAMEX has played a crucial role in some of the most significant projects in Mexico and other Latin American countries:

  • Large Millimeter Telescope on Sierra Negra Volcano: the highest tower crane installation at 4,480 meters above sea level.
  • Panama Canal Expansion: 18 JASO/ESPAMEX tower cranes were used.
  • East Emisor Tunnel: a 64-kilometer sewer tunnel serving 20 million residents of Mexico City.
  • Rise Tower: the tallest building in Latin America and the second tallest skyscraper outside of Asia.

Additionally, ESPAMEX has helped to erect the tallest towers in Mexico with JASO cranes, in a country where 6 out of 10 construction projects use JASO Tower Cranes-ESPAMEX.

In this way, with its innovative in-house technology, which enables it to develop high-level technological solutions, JASO has established itself as a trusted partner for construction throughout the Americas.
